The St. Anthony Park Community Council’s Transportation Committee is hosting a Stop for Me pedestrian awareness even this Sunday May 28th from 3:30-4:30pm at Como and Fifield. Volunteers will cross the street and share safety tips with pedestrians and drivers.
A typical event involves collaboration with the community to do education at the location that is selected. Police are on hand to educate the volunteers and participants on how to safely cross the street. The volunteers are then able to engage other people walking by (presumably that walk there every day) and teach them the same safety tips. The police will also be present to do traffic stops and enforcement of the crosswalk law if driver’s fail to stop for a pedestrian in the crosswalk.
