Two upcoming presentations on another air quality monitoring project are scheduled for:
Oct. 2, 6:30 to 7:45 pm at the Merriam Park Library, 1831 Marshall Ave.
Oct. 15, 6:30 to 7:45 pm, Room 273 at Wellstone Center, 179 Robie St. East
This current project, by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), began in Spring, 2019 and will run until Summer, 2021. Our own Urban Growler and the SPPS Central Services Facilities (a St. Paul Public School building) are generously hosting the two sensors, which are sampling for the two zip codes of St. Anthony Park (SAP).
The presentations will discuss the project design and what the sensors have so far found. The MPCA staff want feedback from the community, regarding questions this project could answer. The MPCA is also placing special emphasis on sharing the data with the public and providing results that are easy to find and compare.
Pollutants being monitored, all of which have potential health impacts, include:
- Fine particles (technically, the PM2.5 and PM10 sizes)
- Ozone
- Sulfur dioxide
- Oxides of nitrogen
- Carbon monoxide
The Environment Committee of the SAP Community Council has been assisting the MPCA in coordinating the placement of our Urban Growler sensor and in informing our community about these presentations.
